EDUCATION

Raising the level of general education within the community is crucial to its long-term development, and Goodhope works to ensure that everyone involved with the business is presented with the opportunity to gain skills, knowledge, qualifications and career opportunities.

In the remote locations in which we operate, local government investment in education is very limited and there is no facility for the workforce we bring in from other regions to educate their children. Consequently Goodhope invests in education as well as supporting local schools, both to raise education standards as well as minimize employee turnover due to unavailability of quality education for their children.

Our education programmes also focus on:

  • supporting primary and secondary schools in villages by increasing capacity
    and opportunities.

  • in collaboration with local education office, we support the establishment and operations of public vocational high schools (SMK).

  • we also aim to upgrade the literacy levels and employability of community personnel, better equipping them for plantation activities and enabling them to support the business operations of plantation units.

All these activities are undertaken by the Agro Harapan Foundation set up by Goodhope specifically dedicated to Education Advancement.
